Dutch Nomads Campers Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2009 and 01-Jan-2011

1. Cancellation
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
a) The renter has to cancel by registered letter. The date of mail delivery is considered as the date of cancellation.
b) In case of a cancellation the renter owes:
- Till 59 days prior to start date of rental period : 25% of the rent sum
- Till 31 days prior to start date of rental period : 50% of the rent sum
- Till the 4 days prior to start date of rental period : 90% of the rent sum
- Till the 3 days prior to start date of rental period : 100% of the rent sum
c) Early return of the rented camper will never lead to a (partial) restitution of the rent sum.

Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.

2. Obligations Dutch Nomads
Dutch Nomads is obligated to deliver the camper as follows:
a) In time and according to legal requirements (APK; General Periodical Inspection); This does not apply if through circumstances the camper is returned late by a prior renter, or is damaged in such a way that it does no longer comply with regulations. (see 4 add b). If possible Dutch Nomads will supply renter with a replacing vehicle, that must be accepted by renter if it is suitable for the amount of persons travelling and travel purpose. If Dutch Nomads is not able to provide renter with a replacing vehicle Dutch Nomads must reimburse at the most the total amount paid by renter. In these circumstances further claims for costs will not be granted.
b) In good condition and complete with inventory and accessories;
c) With the required documents, such as insurance and registration;
d) With sufficient instructions;

3. Obligations renter
The renter is obligated:
a) To pay for the owing rent sum or cancellation fee, even if the renter does not use the camper, or uses it for a shorter period of time;
b) To use the camper only for camping intentions, make no alterations to the camper;
c) To follow the instructions of DutchNomads;
d) Not to lend or rent the camper to others;
e) To make sure that the camper will only be driven by the renter and the authorized second driver stated in the contract. The minimum age of both drivers is 25 years, the drivers must own a valid drivers license for three years or longer, unless agreed differently.
f) To take care the vehicle holds sufficient engine oil and cooling fluid and has the correct tire pressure.

4. Shortcomings
a) If one party fails to meet his obligations, the other party reserves the right to cancel the contract completely or partially. This right is not applicable if the shortcoming is of a very extraordinary sort or of a very small extent. Furthermore compensation of damages can be claimed, unless the shortcoming cannot be held against the other party.
b) In case of complete or partial cancellation of the contract due to shortcoming of DutchNomads, DutchNomads will reimburse the complete or partial rent sum. If the shortcoming concerns a non delivery of a specific camper, DutchNomads holds the right to provide a similar camper which at least meets the specifications of the original booked camper. Kind and color may differ.
c) If the renter returns the camper late, DutchNomads is entitled to a compensation of € 190,- per overdue day or part of the overdue day.
d) Only written complaints are accepted and must be directed to Dutch Nomads Hoofdweg 855a, 2131 MB Hoofddorp, the Netherlands

5. Costs
a) Costs that have a direct relation with using the camper, for example: fuel, oil, tire repairs, fines, legal costs etc. are the responsibility of the renter. Note: Tyre pressure is very important. At all times renter is responsible for the proper tyre pressure.
b) Necessary costs for normal maintenance and repairs are the responsibility of DutchNomads. Dutchnomads can never be held liable for consequential costs as a result of damage or breakdown such as telephone, hotel, restaurant, food etcetera.
c) In case of mechanical defects, repairs or damages the renter must always contact DutchNomads. Costs for repairs that have been carried out without consulting DutchNomads will never lead to reimbursement.
d) Repairs that have been carried out after approval of DutchNomads will only be reimbursed if the renter provides DutchNomads with the original, specified invoices together with the replaced broken part(s). DutchNomads is discharged of any reimbursement if the invoices and/or replaced parts are not handed over. Reimbursement of invoices in foreign currencies will be done according to the exchange rate on the date of repair.
e) Repairs, the fixing of flaws or expanding the inventory by the renter, without approval of DutchNomads, will never, in any case, result in any reimbursement or compensation.

6. Free kilometers
The rental prices are based on 2000 free kilometers per week in the high season. Outside the high season this is 1500 kilometers per week.
Extra kilometers cost € 0.20 per kilometer. For 95% of our customers the free kilometers are sufficient.
For a weekend you have 650 free kilometers, extra kilometers cost € 0.20 per kilometer.

7. Final
The booking is final after paying the required down payment stated in the confirmation/invoice. Hereby the renter confirms that he has received and read the booking and general conditions of DutchNomads and that he agrees to them.

8. Payment
De renter must pay the complete rent sum and/or down payment stated in the invoice he has received. The payment must be done as follows:
a. Within 10 days after booking, the down payment mentioned on the invoice must be paid to the ABN AMRO account of DutchNomads nr. 493063536 in Amsterdam.
b. The remainder of the rent sum must be paid ultimately four weeks before the start of the rental period. The deposit must be in the account 5 days prior to departure or in cash at departure. No Visa or Mastercard or traveller cheques. The deposit will be transferred back into the renter’s bank account at the latest within 4 weeks after returning the camper. If applicable, damages and/or compensations will be deducted.
c. The amounts on the invoice must be available to DutchNomads on the mentioned dates.
d. If the renter is neglectful in his payments DutchNomads will hand over the invoice to a credit collector. Any resulting costs (legal and/or non-legal and interest costs) must be paid by the renter. At all times DutchNomads then holds the right to cancel the contract without any legal interference.
e. If the start date of the rent period lies six weeks or less in the future, the full rent sum mentioned on the invoice must be paid to the ABN AMRO account of DutchNomads nr. 493063536 in Amsterdam within 7 days.
f. The deposit amounts € 750,- or 1000,- depending on the camper.

9. General
a. Changes in the contract and/or general conditions are only valid if the renter and DutchNomads have agreed to this in writing.
b. Renting a camper can only be done by the renter self.
c. The completed booking form, the signed contract and general conditions are considered to form a whole. Damages caused by incorrect reproduction of facts and/or matters must be compensated entirely by the renter.

10. Cleaning
a) The camper is delivered as follows:
- Outside clean
- Inside clean
- Fuel tank filled
- Clean fridge
b) Smoking is not allowed in the camper.
c) Pets are not allowed in the camper.
d) The camper must be returned in the same state as it was delivered to the renter by DutchNomads. If the camper is not cleaned accordingly, the following cleaning costs apply:
- Outside dirty € 30
- Inside dirty € 30
- Kitchen dirty € 15
- Fridge dirty € 15
- Covers dirty € 50
- Toilet dirty € 60
- Smell free € 100
e) Any missing items from the inventory when returning the camper, must be paid by the renter. The inventory will be checked based upon the inventory checklist that was signed at delivery.
f) The excess amounts € 750,- If the deposit proves to be insufficient for the payment of damages, loss of (parts of) the inventory. compensations or costs, the renter must immediately hand over the remaining amount.

11. Breakdown
a) In case of breakdown, the renter contacts Dutch Nomads immediately. Further action will be discussed then.
b) If the renter has a breakdown insurance with Dutch Nomads the ANWB(Dutch Automobile Association) will provide roadside assistance, towing and if necessary a replacing vehicle. A replacing vehicle (car, not camper) will only be granted if diagnose by a an appointed garage shows that the camper is not repairable within 2 days. In this case the camper will be transported back to Dutch Nomads. This transport is included in the breakdown insurance.
c) If the renter does not have a breakdown insurance with Dutch Nomads he or she is fully responsible for all costs as a consequence of the breakdown such as roadside assistance, towing and transportation of the vehicle back to Holland.
d) Dutch Nomads can never be held liable for consequential costs such as telephone, hotel, restaurant, taxi-costs etcetera as a result of breakdown. Renter must always have a good travel insurance for these circumstances.

It is in your and our best interest that you travel in a save and reliable camper.

Although we do everything to prevent breakdowns, we can never guarantee that this will not happen.

Dutch Nomads Campers is a certified member of the ANWB (Dutch Vehicle Association). In case of breakdowns the ANWB will support you, and will make sure that the camper is repaired, towed etc.

The ANWB insurance is obligatory for you at a rate of € 50,- per rental period. This includes administration costs.

*Roadside Assistance Europe includes roadside assistance, towing, and transporting the vehicle back to Dutch Nomads. This insurance does not include hotel-, taxi-, restaurant-, telephone costs or a replacing vehicle. Please make sure you have a good travel insurance to cover these items.

Tips.
If you have any doubt about the camper, please contact us. "Better save than sorry".
N e v e r keep driving when a red light in the dashboard is on!! For these situations use the emergency lane immediately!!!! Stop immediately!!!! You are risking motor damage and the loss of your total security deposit.

12. Insurance

Our campers have all risk insurance with a deductible of € 750, - per claim.
Damages above the 2.00 million have a deductible of € 1000.

For damages as a result of low engine oil or coolant level and/or overheating teh deductible is € 1000.

14. Damage

a) In every case of loss, theft, seizure or damage the renter must always contact DutchNomads as soon as possible and within 12 hours at the latest. The renter must follow the instructions of DutchNomads at all times.
b) The renter is responsible for the damage and the related transport and towing costs to a maximum of the damage weaver, unless the renter cannot be held responsible. Damages and costs due to negligence and/or irresponsible behavior will always result in deduction of the deposit.
c) In case the camper is seized by a (local) government because of (suspected) illegal activity by the renter(such as drug trafficking), the renter must completely compensate DutchNomad for all damages suffered. This compensation can exceed the deposit. All costs, legal an non-legal, that have been made by DutchNomads due to the seizure of the camper must be paid by the renter.
d) The damage weaver amounts € 750,- per damage.
e) DutchNomads can never be held responsible for personal and/or material or consequential damage to the renter or his travel companions, caused by the use of the camper, a mechanical defect(break down) and/or a collision.

For all parties involved damages are no fun, but unfortunately it happens.

Our campers have all risk insurance with a deductible of € 750, - per claim and € 1000, - in case of damages over 2.00 m. (measured from the ground).

For damages due to low engine oil or coolant level and/or overheating the deductable is € 1000.
This means that if you have a damage of 3000,- you lose € 750,- of your deposit and/or € 1000, - in case of a damage over 2.00 m.
In case of a damage of € 300, - , only € 300, - will de deducted from the deposit.

The deductable is always per claim. If you have more claims you may receive a bill for the subsequent damage because the deposit is not sufficient.

In case of damage there is always a handling fee of € 50.

Tips
Make sure you're fit behind the wheel.
When reversing the camper ask a fellow passenger to give indications.
Check the camper regularly: Awning ok? the bikes tied down? all the lights work?
Do not park not too close to other vehicles.
Remove Navigation and all valuables from the car if you are not present.
Keep the dimensions of the camper in mind!!
Check the tire pressure regularly!
Check the fluid levels every day!

15. Picking up and returning the camper
A rental period of one or more weeks always begins and ends on a Friday or a Saturday. Exceptions are possible in the low and shoulder season. Pick up time for the camper is always between 14.00 pm and 16.00 pm and the returning time is always 10.00.

The rental period of a weekend starts on Friday at 14:00 and ends on Monday at 12.00.

16. Security deposit
Before you hit the road a deposit of € 1000, - needs to be paid.

This is possible prior to departure by bank transfer or through credit card at departure(4% fee). The security deposit must be available in our account before your departure, otherwise you can not leave.

In principle, the security deposit will be reimbursed into your account within two weeks after the handing back of the camper or unblocked (credit card).

The deposit is never paid back to you in cash because of security.

In case of damage is the security deposit (or the remainder of the deposit) is generally not reimbursed within two weeks because of damage expertise etc. In this case, the security deposit(or the remainder of the deposit) will be reimbursed within 6 weeks after returning the camper.

For navigation, a deposit of € 100, -- is required.

Tip. Prepare all payments. Make sure all payments are transferred or that the amount is available on your credit card. This way you can enjoy a relaxed time on vacation.

17. Rental period
In the high season the minimal rental period is 2 weeks. Weekend rental is not possible in the high season.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Picking up and returning the camper

We will happily pick up and drop off our customers from / to Amsterdam International Airport which is close by our physical depot.  This is a free complimentary service.  Please give us your flight details at time of booking if these are available.

  • After passing the railroad tracks(above you) take a left (Crowne Plaza Hotel on your left) at the lights onto the "Van der Heuven Goedhartlaan".
  • Follow this road untill you cross the "Hoofdweg Oost" (police station on your right) turn left these lights and follow "Hoofdweg Oostzijde"
